  • Woodwork: custom wood carving reminiscent of eastern European country estates 18 and 19th century decorate the carport ceiling and 4 stone columns at the entrance. Same elements are repeated at the interior courtyard, the cloister.

  • Stone: natural stone, mostly Pennsylvania field stone, from the stone walls build by farmers. Installed just like the fences, horizontal layers using black cement so it looks more natural.

  • Roof is made of man made slate called Eccostar that is just as expensive as regular slate, but it’s a lot lighter and very durable.

  • Decorative wood panels under the large living room and dining room windows break up the stone covered front façade…also they look like entry gates to an old castle…

  • Entry foyer has two symmetrical frameless, 8 ft doors, both having hand carved panels inlaid on the top half of the door.

  • Floor is made by hand chiseled, brushed travertine that has an antique look. Installed, using a unique patter.

  • Kitchen floor is made using a very rare, unique stone from Turkey that has a combination of marble, travertine and yellow/orange onyx. Because each tile is so unique, they are individually installed in a 4 “wide beige travertine frame, so that each tile has its own story to tell…

  • Kitchen lighting: A 20 ft long x 10 ft wide low-voltage Monorail track lighting rail is above the center island. It has 28 low-voltage swivel light fixtures (heads).

  • Master Bedroom located in the east tower and has a separate sitting room, two walk-in closets and a large master bath with a whirlpool and large shower with body jets and marble bench for sitting. The master bath has separate, enclosed toilet for Him and another toilet + bidet for Her. There is a covered balcony opening from the master bath, as well as a staircase leading to the greenhouse.

  • Other Bedrooms: All bedrooms have artist made stained glass shading were there is a curved window…and no other shading was possible.

  • On top of the back stairs, there is a large “sitting” room that could be used as a living room/playroom for the master suit located in the west wing of the house. Here is located the laundry room that has a sink, storage space and a large linen closet.  There is a 16 ft long x 8 ft wide covered terrace from this sitting room overlooking the backyard.

Also, a separate gym room is located three steps down from the sitting room, above the two car attached garage bellow.

  • The two master bedrooms with cathedral ceiling have a 60“wide fan with up and down lights. The two tower bedrooms, as well as Living Room, Library and Dining room have decorative, wood baseboard heating covers.

  • Covered Porch… The Cloister. Inspired from Europe’s monasteries, the cloister is build to enclose an interior courtyard on three sides… the 4th side was left out to allow visibility of the backyard, the additional ½ acre of manicured loan. There is an old fountain, dating back to the original house that was located in the place of the courtyard, built in 1869.

  • The covered fountain on the left and the old Chinese vistiria that grew on the old brick foundation of the old house, create a partial 4th side of the cloister.

  • Additional Info: We kept the old house banister and some of the spindles and incorporated them in the second staircase going from the mud room entrance to the second floor to leave a piece of the home’s original character.
